This entry into our Collaboration Series wasn't rash, foolish, or lacking in foresight. In other words, it wasn't folly to work together with our friends on a beer, only to have to tuck it away in barrels for 5 months before it was ready to taste.
Along with the great brewing talent at Folly Brewing, we've created a deliciously-unique offering: Forked Monk's Folly. A Belgian-style stout, aged in VQA red wine barrels which previously housed our outstanding Flanders Red Ale. Here, the dark ale was allowed to mature and sour over five months in our barrel room.
At first sip a bright, sharp sourness hits, followed by a mellower medium-bodied mouthfeel. Muted Belgian esters dance over flavours of dark chocolate and coffee. It's a blend of a whole lot of distinct and complementary characteristics.
